Java Developer

Software Developer – Birmingham

The Developer will have extensive skills in Java & Spring and you will be responsible for the design, developments and integration of their new cloud platform software features. The developer will be joining a team of highly skills front end developers and you will work on various new projects  where you will work on the full development lifecycle. Ideally, you will have client facing skills as you will be dealing with external and internal stakeholders as part of a cross functional software team. You will come from a strong academic background with a Computer / Software related degree and will have at least 4 years plus development experience using Java technologies.
 
Core skills & experience
 

  • Java 8 or later with demonstrable and recent development experience using Spring / Spring boot
  • Experience of working with SQL and NoSQL databases, e.g. Postgres, MongoDB, or similar.
  • Experience of using Version Control Software, such as Git, GitHub, GitLab and similar products.
  • Agile / Scrum
  • Experience of CI/CD
  • A proven ability to understand and manage the impact of detailed software issues on the wider system level performance.
  • Experience of applying software design principles, design patterns, test-driven development, SOLID principles, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce high quality software and experience introducing new technologies to a platform.
 
Desirable Skills
  • Experience of working with a large/enterprise-grade platform powered by a micro-services architecture.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and Kafka
  • Great communication skills to work with a talented multi-disciplined team.
  • ‘Can do’ attitude to find the best solution while working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience of test-driven development.
  • Experience of integrating software and hardware.
