Infrastructure & Security Engineer – £50k – 9-month FTC

This advanced software house based near Lichfield, Staffordshire with good links to North Birmingham, Tamworth, Derby, Walsall etc are looking to add an Infrastructure & Security Engineer to their technical services team, the successful Infrastructure & Security Engineer  will be joining an established IT Support team, where you will work closely with the team of Infrastructure Engineers and Information Security analysts ensuring the ongoing performance and availability of the company’s Internal IT and Telecoms Systems.
 
Key Responsibilities for this Infrastructure & IT Security engineer role

  • Managing the systems, servers, and other network components together with telecoms used to deliver their internet-based 24 / 7 service
  • Resolves problems reported by end users for LAN & WAN networks, desktops, networking equipment (switches, routers, etc.)
  • Monitors and measures the performance of the network; reports problems to appropriate individuals/teams
  • Understand the need for good documentation, control, and system procedures
  • Encourage an innovative culture that embraces change and experimentation while appreciating the need to provide a resilient service for their customers
  • Promote best practices and build security into the existing platforms
 
 Essential skills for this IT Infrastructure role:
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with strong experience of VMware virtualisation and share storage practices
  • Experience with Azure cloud platform services and can create documentation around the setup and configuration of Azure development concepts
  • In Depth understanding of Core Microsoft on-premises products (Windows Server, SQL Server, Exchange) 
  • Knowledge of one or more Scripting Languages (e.g. PowerShell, VBScript, JavaScript, Python, etc)
  • Citrix product and associated technologies
  • An exposure of network security and server hardening.
  • VMWare Virtualisation and Shared Storage Practices (VCP or above)
  • Exposure to Juniper SRX firewalls is an advantage
