Data Warehouse Developer
 
Location - Birmingham commute from Walsall, Wolverhampton, Tamworth
SQL Server, T-SQL, ETL, BI Developer
 
This advanced software house who are pioneering the latest cutting edge software for a diverse industry are looking to add several Data Warehouse developers to their DW team based in Birmingham. The successful developer will have a broad range of data warehouse skills and will be working within a team developing and maintaining the data warehouse infrastructure. Candidates must have a solid understanding of Data Warehouse design/development.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the DBA with refining and evolving the structure and design of their Data Warehouse
  • Incrementally expand and maintain their Data Warehouse with additional datasets in line with the Product Owner’s requirements
  • Build robust, reliable ETL processes to feed data from operational databases into the Data Warehouse
  • Continually monitor and performance tune the Data Warehouse
  • Investigate and integrate various BI tools with the Data Warehouse
  • Work closely with the QA’s within the team to ensure data integrity and quality is maintained as the Data Warehouse expands
 
Skills
 
  • SQL Server, T-SQL & SQL Server Management Studio
  • Expertise in designing and implementing ETL processes with SSIS and related technologies.
  • Strong understanding of extensive data models
  • Strong experience and understanding of Data Warehouse design methodologies
  • Experienced in working within virtual environments
  • Experience creating and enforcing backup and data retention policies
  • Experienced in SQL Server Analysis server (multi-dimensional reporting and data-mining from OLAP cubes) – useful for strategic reporting and testing
  • Performance tuning & query optimisation and high availability
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience with Data Warehouse testing tools and strategies
  • Willingness to apply thorough test processes to produce high quality deliverables
  • Awareness of other database technologies like MongoDB, Elasticsearch
